What is the latest date I can book the cycling challenge?
We request that we have all the participants names by Friday 2nd July.
If you do not have a ticket and wristband you will not be taking part. There are limited tickets so book NOW!
What do I do about transport to the start points?
We suggest you make your own way to ILE either the night before and book a night stay at a hotel or meet at the start point early in the morning.
You must arrive at ILE no later than 0800am on the 10th July.
You can either drive, leaving your vehicle at the start point or leave your vehicle at the finish location. You can then use public transport to get to and from the event with your own bike. Syston Train station is 15 minutes walk/5 minutes cycle to ILE.

How do I get my bike to the start point?
YOU will need to bring your own bike with you or arrange for a friend, colleague, or family member to drop you with your bike to the start point. Should you struggle A&A may be able to assist but only if you have no other means.

How do I get my bike back from the finish point?
YOU will need to arrange for collection of your own bike. Dewhurst will store your bike for a maximum of 2 weeks after the event.
You can arrange transport/collection during normal working hours.
Your bike will not be covered for any loss/damages by LICCC or A&A/Dewhurst PLC.
What do I do about my tent and change of clothes?
We’d suggest you have one of your team bring your tents, equipment, clothing and essentials to the campsite on the day or alternatively A&A can arrange for this to be transported for you. Please make sure your bag and equipment is correctly labelled with your name/company and address/contact details.
(A&A/LICCC will not be held responsible for any loss or damages).
Where can I stay the night before the ride?
There are numerous hotels close to ILE. We suggest you book well in advance.
We have pre booked 60 twin/double bedrooms at a local hotel for a discounted rate. Should you wish to book one of these, please contact Reiss.Stygal@AA-electrical.com.
Can I bring a +1 with me?
We would like to keep this event predominately for the lift industry, but yes – you can bring 1 co-rider from outside the industry with you providing they have paid to participate and will follow our cycling rules. Please make sure this person is over the age of 18!
Is the event Covid safe?
Like you, we are excited about the LIC250CC ride.
However, it remains important that we ensure that we all play a part in bringing the virus under control. We advise that everyone wears a face covering at our campsite, during the event and advise everyone to keep a safe distance from each other.
We have also allowed a minimum 2m safe distance between each tent at our campsite.
We will continue to follow all government guidelines and will keep you updated should anything change.
What happens if the event is cancelled due to Covid19?
Should the event no longer be able to take place. We will move the event to a more suitable date or can offer a refund on the ticket price minus the booking fee’s taken by EventBrite.
What happens if I have a medical problem on the ride?
We will have first aid/support vehicles to assist should you encounter any problems along the route. It is highly recommended you carry a first aid pack, mobile phone and any medication you require.
RIDERS REQUIRING REGULAR MEDICATION SHOULD BRING THEIR MEDICINES WITH THEM. IF YOU HAVE ANY DOUBTS ABOUT YOUR FITNESS OR ABILITY TO COMPLETE THE RIDE, PLEASE SEEK MEDICAL ADVICE IN ADVANCE.
Your health and safety is your own responsibility. We would recommend you take out Third Party Insurance ahead of taking part in the challenge.
How much is is to participate and what is included?
Entry is £75 per person +booking fee’s.
The registration fee allows you to participate in the event.
Your campsite overnight stay is also included.
Food for the afternoon, evening, breakfast and 2 drinks will be provided.
This also Includes your bike storage at the start/finish locations, support vehicles and shipping of your camping gear to the campsite and back to either A&A or Dewhurst.
Can you book a hotel instead of camping?
You are more than welcome to arrange your own hotel. You will need to arrange your own transport and ensure you are at the campsite for sign in’s and for the start time on day 2. The ticket price will remain the same.
How do I get my bike to the start point?
We would suggest you arrange transport for your bike ahead of the event. ILE has kindly offered to store your bike in a secure location 1 week prior to the event. Please make sure your bike is labelled with your name, company, address and contact details.
Any damages will NOT be covered by LIC/A&A/Dewhurst/ILE or any other persons handling your bike.
What happens if I have a mechanical problem on a ride?
To deal with simple punctures, we advise that all riders bring their own puncture repair kit and pump.
If you need further help, we will provide a cycle mechanic in an A&A support vehicle. You will be given a support vehicle telephone number where you can contact our van should you be in need of assistance or can no longer ride.
What happens if I want to retire from the ride?
Riders who are unable to complete the ride, for whatever reason, can call the emergency support vehicle number shown on the route pack which is given out on the day.
Do I have to raise a minimum amount of sponsorship?
There is not a minimum amount of sponsorship. All funds raised will be going to the Lift Industry Charity. We suggest you link a JustGiving page using the link:
Do I have to wear a cycling helmet?
YES, you will not be able to take part unless you are wearing a helmet with the strap fastened.
Do I need to bring a tent to the campsite?
YES, unless you want to lay on the grass staring at the stars!
You will need to provide your own tent, change of clothes and camping equipment with you to the start line. We will then take these to the camp site for you. We’d recommend a small pop up tent which you can easily put up and take down. Alternatively we can have these transported from A&A prior to the event start. Please make sure your tent is labelled with your company details, full name and contact details so we can give this to you when you arrive at the camp site. This will need to be dropped before the 8th July 21
How am I going to know the route of the ride?
We will be providing a planned and marshalled cycle route. We would highly recommend you use a GPS device or mobile phone which allows you to view and use the route planned from our Strava route. Please check the route first so you are aware of the water points and finish locations. We will also provide a hard copy map with the route, refueling and toilet stops so you can easily navigate your way from start to finish. We also recommend staying in a group just in case you do get lost.
Are both days on road?
Both day 1 and 2 are on the road although some of the route may get a little bumpy!
Can I get a refund on my entry fee?
Entry fees are ONLY refunded in the event of illness or should the event be cancelled due to COVID-19.

Only if you dress as a womble. This is a ‘cycling challenge’.
I’ve already registered, what do I need to do on the day of the ride?
Come to the start point early, sign in and collect your information pack. Check over and get your bikes ready. Make sure you have your route planned/route equipment, water, first aid kit and wristband on!
Insurance – Optional but recommended
In case of the worst, we would strongly recommend that each rider takes out insurance.
